/December 09

UPDATED! Hey Mariners, we are going to have some significant challenges and opportunities in December. First, getting into the North pool on Basketball nights will be much more difficult. Currently they are telling us that we will have to drop off at the upstairs student parking lot entrance. I will let you know if anything changes with that.

Second, There are 4 home boys Metro meets in December so early practices will be disrupted on all 4 nights and the late practice will be disrupted on at least one of those nights. check the December calendar for those dates and times.

Which brings us to our Third challenge, WEST pool is out of service for the month of December.

The holidays are always a hard time to stay focused and consistent with training, we will work to provide as many opportunities to get in the water as possible given our pool availability challenges. Many of you are working out on your own when you get the chance and I appreciate that, if over the holidays you can find someone compatible to workout with that would make it easier on you. If you choose to do that let me know, I will post some specific workouts that will blend well with our current training cycle. Of course the best option is to be at our team practices....We are working hard right now to modify practices so that everyone gets more coach time, it has been derailed several time as as we figure something out and then find that this option or that equipment is not available. Here is our best option right now, if we can get about 10 COMPATIBLE swimmers to agree to a 5:30 start for practice we can take the pressure off of the later workout. my preference is for our 8-10 year olds as it is earlier lights out for them generally at night. Because of the pool situation, we are trying to work out staffing the pool with coaches for a full 5:30 to 6:50 workout as well as the 7-8:30 workout. We have 10 swimmers that have committed to an early workout, if we can get 10 more compatible swimmers from the 11-13 age group we can get through December without disrupting the training cycle. Let me know who would be interested in this option.
